Having to mount and remove a heavy fifth wheel hitch just to use your truck bed can be a hassle. This Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box replaces your trailer’s factory pin box so you can hook up directly to a 2-5/16" gooseneck ball. With a 30,000-lb towing capacity and 4,500-6,500-lb pin weight range, it lets you tow your fifth-wheel trailer without giving up bed space when you’re not hitched.
Road shock and chucking can turn towing into a rough experience. Inside this pin box are torsion tubes and rubber cords that twist and compress to absorb movement between the truck and trailer. This design reduces bounce, jarring, and fore-and-aft motion—helping protect your cargo and limiting shock transfer. You’ll notice steadier handling and a smoother ride across changing road conditions.
Unlike some air-ride systems, there are no air bags to refill or valves to maintain. The torsion system works mechanically, with fewer small parts to wear out. That means you get consistent performance over time with less upkeep or adjustment.
The self-latching lever automatically engages when the hitch ball is in the socket, so you don’t have to wrestle with your coupler during hookup. Cross-shaped holes provide attachment points for safety chains (GY49GR sold separately). It’s a setup built for quick connections that keep you confident and ready to roll.
Made from heavy-duty steel with a corrosion-resistant powder coat finish, this pin box bolts on using existing hardware for straightforward installation. Once mounted, it becomes part of your trailer’s structure for a clean, integrated fit. That durability and simplicity mean you can tow hard without second-guessing your gear.
| Calculated Pin Weight | Executive Pin Weight Capacity Required |

Makes life a lot easier l don’t have to remove my hitch from the bed of my truck to use it. Just flip the ball and there you go.
The gooseneck hitch actually pulls better than the 5th wheel hitch I had.
It is rather heavy so come up with a good plan for installing, I used the front end loader on my tractor which allowed me to do the install by myself.
Great product!!!
Great hitch got everything to do change out, customer service was great
Installing was OK, but had to do twice because I estimated the height wrong. Used a helper & floor jack with a 4x4 post to maneuver the hitch into position.
Am well pleased as I have plenty of room in the bed fo incxdentals, unlike the full bed I had with B&W Companion Hitch in place. Plus, the goose ball & tie downs store under the seat, & I don't need my tractor to load & unload the 5th wheel hitch. Works as advertised!
Very good service. Delivered on time. Great experience.
After one year our Gen Y hitch works as it should. The shipping process was a problem and I blame that on the rail and freight companies. I highly recommend
I believe the hitch is okay but this is how it arrived.
Shipping was fast and packaged well. Installed on 2025 Brinkley Z3100 going on 2022 Ram 3500 SRW short bed. Used a Curt multi-fit goose ball into factory puck system.
With Gen Y mounted in top most Rhino box hole (see photo). I have about 10.5” of bed rail clearance and turn almost 90 degrees.
Only took a short 50 mile test ride down a know bucking road. The ride is very much improved and should get better with a good break in trip.
BTW I thought I could buy grade 8 bolts locally, but they ended up more expensive than the ones etrailer sells.
Shipment was quick and package arrive undamaged. Install was pretty simple install but for having a 2nd person made things a lot easier.
This was advertised as used but it looked brand new to me. Estes took a while on the shipping. It arrived 50 miles from my house and was delivered 6 days later. Great product though. Campers should just come with these and skip the 5th wheels
The Gen-Y gooseneck has been excellent! I now have approximately 12k miles on mine and it rides very nicely with very limited chucking and handles rough roads very well. I’d highly recommend that you contact Gen-Y BEFORE ordering to ensure you get the correct load rating product. Gen-Y and Etrailer have provided excellent customer and tech support! This product definitely frees up your truck bed and does require a precise line up to hitch.
Easy to install, did it by myself! Off loaded in the back of my truck backed the truck up too the 5th wheel put it on t ball used my Airbags stood it up and bolted it into place!
Etrailer was great. Product arrived in great shape. Ordered on a Thursday and got it on a Monday. The hitch was very easy to install. Just needed myself and one other person to handle the weight. The hitch is nice and solid. Very impressed with the fit and finish. Have not yet pull with it but the fit and finish is exceptional! I highly recommend etrailer and Gen Y hitches.
The flexibility definitely reduces bounce and rattle. Watching it from the rear view mirror, I can see that it's working. I think it's worth the $1,000 upgrade from the fixed Nomad hitch. Now I have to decide whether or not to buy the $99 warranty on the flex components. With the condition of these roads , It's getting a lot of action.
Best decision ever. This hitch makes towing a breeze. We love not having a giant receiver in the bed of the truck making the truck more usable when not towing. Just a great hitch.
William was great. The actual sales part of this was beyond excellent I received my Gen-y in only a couple of days and my son and I easily installed the hitch on the trailer in less than an hour and a half. We used a floor jack to support it after we hitched it to the goofball in the truck and then backed up into the trailer pocket and then used the hydraulic jacks on the trailer to get it in perfect position and bolted it down.
wacthed several videos but none was for this model the turning point the all said at least 2 people and a couple of hours i placed it in the back of my truck unpacked it made sure every thing i needed was there backed under the camper enough for the bed and tail gate to be used with a 2ton floor jack and sone 4x4 blocks of wood using the camper jacks also i was able to change it out in 1hour 45 min by myself every thing went like clock work haven't pulled it very far yet but so far i love it
Truck and Trailer handle so much better going down the road and over bumps at speed. Also love that i have my bed space back and dont have to remove a 5th wheel plate every time i pull my gooseneck trailer.
Buying my hitch was a breeze. Alex was as great. Shipped out quickly from their warehouse. Something to check. If you have a Lippert 1621HD, you might need the shim kit also like I did. The Gen-Y hitch it self is only 175lbs but is a pain to do by yourself. I used my pickup bed, blocks and a shop jack to get the first two bolts going. Then used the bucket on my tractor to finish. It’s all about the leverage.
Haven’t used it yet. Hopefully soon.
This Gen-Y Gooseneck is very heavy duty, has great special features and fit perfectly. I hated to give up my B&W slider companion 5th wheel hitch but am very excited about having full use of the bed when I disconnect from the camper. It took two of us about one hour to come up with a plan and install this after the original 5th wheel pin box was removed. We engaged the gooseneck with the ball in the truck and set up a floor jack in the truck bed to support/adjust the height of the end to be bolted to the camper. Adjusted the truck back and forth and the camper up and down as need to get a couple of bolts started on each side then disengaged and moved the truck out of the way to complete the bolt up.
Install not difficult just heavy so need help.
We have had this hitch for 1 year now, with approximately 5000 miles of towing so far and it is excellent. We went with the 6.5K instead of the 5.5k (as the specs suggested) and are so glad we did, our Grand Design 410TH is large but only has a 3800lb pin weight. Once it settled in just after 1000 miles the hitch is very smooth and handle the bumps and potholes great. It is very secure and we don't worry about a king pin not locking into the hitch with this setup. After a little practice I can usually backup directly under the ball on the first try (I thought it would be more difficult but it isn't). With all the drama over frame issues, and now the frame manufacture developing their own shock absorbing hitch, we feel more confident we made the right choice and put this hitch on before we even brought our 5th wheel home. This is a must for every toy hauler or 5th wheel over 15K.
Bought to go along with my gooseneck sw ap.
